Social work
Our team of qualified Social Workers and Practitioners are experienced and professional. We have many years of knowledge, experience and skills that are needed to work with people with sight and hearing loss. Many of the team are able to communicate with you in British Sign Language if that is what you need. Once you have contacted Sensing Change we are able to:
- Provide information, advice and guidance on a range of issues, including coping with the emotional impact of sight and hearing loss
- Carry out a full assessment of your needs
- If you have a sight loss, we can complete your registration and discuss the benefits of this process to you
- Help you to maintain and increase your independent living skills through the provision of equipment and training
- Provide guidance on developing networks that reduce isolation
- Assist with benefit claims, housing and employment issues, such as Access to Work
- Provide short or long term support if eligible
- Refer to other services within Sensing Change, such as Rehabilitation and Support Service, as well as a range of external providers
- Assess the needs of carers
